JUNIOR CLUB NEWS
The junior angling club which meets every Saturday throughout the year at Woods Farm fishery in Solihull. Began back in September 2003. With the intention that the club would cater for youngsters, that would either like to try fishing or get more out of there fishing. At first it was hard to find members as we are local to Earlswood lakes and most would be juniors are fishing their in the hope of a net full of big carp. The angling school soon capitalized on this with the birth of, The Earlswood Experience. These days soon saw juniors putting together some very large catches of fish including one of well over 200 lbs, By a 13 year old lad. Now some 4 years on we have a healthy membership of young anglers coming from across the West midlands, to fish with each other every Saturday. Some hoping to fish for the team at National level. Others just wanting to improve there fishing skills. The longest serving member is Daniel Tresigne who joined back in September 2004 And is now a leading peer coach for the fishing club helping out new comers in their early fishing days. During the school holidays the fishing school holds junior fishing competitions and fishing trips to other venues to improve the overall fishing skills of the juniors. These days include the Earlswood Experience, Barble fishing and river fishing trips and days out on local canals and other commercial fisheries in our area.

JUNIOR FISHING CLUB MOVES TO THE STRATFORD CANAL

We will be moving the Saturday fishing club to the Stratford canal, on Yardley wood road, Warstock. as of the 5th December 2009. Due to the cutting of Christmas trees at Woods farm fishery.

All session times will remain the same.

Now this is what i call keen
This is a picture taken on the second session at Woods farm fishery on Saturday 07th January 2006, Air temprature 0c and snowing, total number of youngsters fishing 14.

We will be fishing the Pine pool at Woods Farm
As of 29/12/08 we will be using the Pine pool at Woods farm fishery for the Saturday club. This is due to their being more variety of fish in this pool. See pictures below of the first Saturday sessions on this pool. If the weather cools down and the lakes start to freeze over we will move on to the Bridge pool. This gives us more chance of fishing as the lake is much deeper than the others on the complex. This means that the fish tend to feed longer because the water is not so cold on this lake.

Days out this year include
BARBLE FISHING ON THE RIVER TEME. This day we took 4 youngsters down to Eastern Bridge on the river Teme, with Barble society guide Dave Mason fishing for Barble. What an excellent day we had firstly learning the techniques needed to catch the most powerful of river fish. Then a short walk along the stretch we watch a shoal of fish feeding on loose feed, fed in by Dave to a crystal clear river (this later proved to be the main problem they had). During the days fishing we only saw 1 Barble landed. But all the lads hooked at least 1 fish each.

EARLSWOOD EXPERIENCE
The Earlswood experience is a very popular day out, for both young and older anglers due to the nature of the fishing. Earlswood lakes Engine pool is one of the best known fishing venues in the west midlands due to the stocking level and size of the fish in their. It is not uncommon to catch well in access of 100 lbs of fish in a session. These days out are not for the beginner as most fishing is done with a method feeder at long range and due to the size of the fish expected they take a while to land. It is very possible to land fish to 20lbs on these days out.

The best of 2005
